laravel.log under storage/logs gives Permission denied error after upgrade to 5.5

After upgrading to 5.5 from Laravel 5.4 I get a horrible error as you can see below. ** (1/1) UnexpectedValueException The stream or file "/home/vagrant/Code/website/storage/logs/laravel.log" could not be opened: failed to open stream: Permission denied**

1. Tried to change the permissions with chmod
2. Also tried to change my vagrant sync folders to the Homestead environment I work with.
3. Also everything is updated to the last version.
