Dynamic XML and JSON files as database connection in Laravel

I am building an app that needs to use different data sources for different users.

The data sources need to be dynamic and may be different at some point in time.

The two types of data sources I am required to have so far is a local XML file and an external JSON file.

What would the best approach be in this case? Is there a way to create custom connections for both data sources and use each one depending on the user?
