Geocoder drops leading zeros and letters. How do I handle this?

How do I solve the problem of geocoder API dropping leading zeros and letters on street numbers? For example nmber 10A first avenue is entered in the DB as 10 firrst avenue by the chris geocoder api. Also 024 street is stripped of the leading zero and stored as 24.
