How to set the secure flag to true in laravel 5.1?

I tried setting 'secure' => env( 'SESSION_SECURE_COOKIE', true ) and 'secure' => true in '''config/session.php''' file. None of them has set the flag to true. I am totally new to this. Could you please help me out.
