How to limit the number of simultaneous sessions in Laravel 5?

I'm building a web-app using Laravel 5.2 and I need to limit number of simultaneous user sessions. Is this possible using default file based session driver? Or should I use database / redis / whatever driver? The question is what could be the simplest approach when I only care about max connected users / sessions and not the performance?
