Check status code in controller

Hi guys what is the best way without compromising the page load to check a status code from a url that is a post detail.

For example, in my post details information i have a button that haves a url that is loaded from my post details, but i only want the button to show if this url have a specific status code, for example if the url gets a 301, this means that the url doesnt exist and is being redirect to home page (in my case).

Im using http guzzle to control the requests being made to apis.
