Laravel Nova - how to modify metric value and partition to query lens data view

For Laravel Nova I see in the docs you can $request->resourceId if displaying a metric on detail. But how can we update metrics (specifically both value and partition) on a lens view. On a lens there is no resource id. How else can I have my values and partition results match the data in the different lenses? Or is this not possible?
