Set PHP cookies time

I have set cookies at login time for 1 minute, but while visiting other pages after login I am just checking cookies is expired or not.

but while visiting other pages after 1 min it fails.

I want to know in whether time is handle by cookies internal or not or i need to set cookies on other pages.
