What is the use of Laravel?

My question is that where exactly do we use laravel.What does core PHP cannot do that Laravel can and if not then how does it make things easier. I am planning to learn Laravel so I thought I should learn some dos and don'ts about the MVC? Can you please name some best projects in Laravel?
