Is it better to use XAMPP on Windows 8.1 for laravel framework or need to use something else

I am new to Laravel framework, I have used XAMPP on my Windows OS for my small php projects but now I want to use laravel for a bigger project. I have seen people using XAMPP for laravel also, but some experts/blogs say's it produces too much error and since I am new to this thing it will be hard to fix for me.

I want suggestions regarding the installation of Laravel with XAMPP or something else so that I don't have to face any difficulty in future.
