Redis/Predis on Lumen

Can anyone please assist in guiding my on how to use Redis with Lumen.

I'm getting a 504 GATEWAY_TIMEOUT. I have followed all the guides I can find;

1. install predis/predis
2. install illuminate/redis
3. added this to bootstrap/app.php - class_alias('Illuminate\Support\Facades\Redis', 'Redis');
4. added this to bootstrap/app.php - $app->register('Illuminate\Redis\RedisServiceProvider');

Still no luck
