What are the benefits of using Node js in laravel project?

i hope you all are doing well. I've never used nodejs and i know it's a JavaScript engine the make the app work faster... but i still don't understand how that happens and what is the proper way to use it in a Laravel project. And..is there any possibility of problems if i use nodejs. If i decide to stop using it in my project later what would happen then? Please give me an outline so i can decide.

My application is going to be used in SaaS mode which gives an idea of the requirements.
