Redirect to old app on page not found?

Slowly transitioning a project from Laravel 3 to 5. I'd like to have the new project redirect users to the old version like an invisible proxy when the route isn't available yet in the new project. This way, the users should be able to use all the pages they"re familiar with while enjoying the newly available and improved content as it is being added.

Not sure how to configure this? I can currently have the new project or the old project work from any directory, for instance /var/www/laravel/. However, how do I tell the new Laravel to invoke the old site when the content/route isn't available yet in the new one? I don't want the users to see that it's a different url if possible.
