How to correctly configure a MySql connection on a Laravel application?

I am pretty new to Laravel and I have the following doubt.

I have to connect my Laravel application to an existing MySql database (because this Laravel application will be an integration with another one and they have to share the same database).

So reading here: http://ift.tt/2lGT3nS I have understood that I have to insert my MySql settings into the config/database.php configuration file.

My doubt is: this file contains example settings for various DBMS. I have to remove all these example settings and let here only the MySql one or have I simply to configure the MySql one and let the others unconfigured?
